Emily Has To Make A Decision - Chapter Thirty Five

I give in....letting my guard down, I grab Dimitri, and crush him to me. My lips find his with an animal hunger. I kiss him with everything that I have. The love I have for him, the heartache of losing him, comes crashing in. I kiss him like my life depends on it. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me tighter that not even air can come between us. His lips kiss me with a fierce motion that our teeth collide a little. I find myself wrapped up in him, that nothing else exists in this moment. My heart feels like it's going to explode.
Finally, we pull apart to catch our breaths. I feel like I have run a marathon. When I eventually regain myself, I meet Dimitri's eyes, followed by his cute smile. Although his eyes are now ringed in red, they still melt me.
Before I can say anything, Dimitri grabs my hand. "Come," he says as he leads me to the second story of this big house. "I have a surprise for you," he tells me as he leads me through another part of the house that I have never seen.
Dimitri seems excited about something. I can hear it in his tone. His fingers are laced in mine as we walk further. "I figured you would be uncomfortable being in the bedroom that Jen and I shared. So I thought I would find one that was just for us," he says as he opens the door to the room. I gasp, "Us," I say so small, I'm sure he didn't even hear me.
He pulls me into this beautiful room. It has everything you would want in a bedroom. I glance around and notice the windows. It has windows that I thought no Nightwalker would want in a room. It has a warm feel to it, but it's not home to me. "How, and when did you do this?" I ask. "While we were outside walking," he grins at me.
Dimitri pulls me over to a dresser and has me standing in front of the mirror. He wraps his arms around me. His hand comes up to my face holding it in place while his other glides down my arm. His face is now only a few inches from mine. He closes his eyes briefly. When he opens them, they are red like fire. "You are mine, and only mine," he whispers. His tone takes me by surprise but also has that warning in it. I don't know either to feel happy or scared about it.
He buries his nose into my hair, inhaling my scent as his grip tightens. "I have missed you so much. I thought I would only see you in my dreams. Now here you are in my arms like I have always wanted. It's like I have been pulled from the darkness into the light," he says as if he's under some strange spell. My heart beats hard in my chest as I try to control my breathing.
He releases me and walks over to the fireplace. He leans in and lights a fire to warm the room. He sets down, motioning for me to join him. I sat down only a foot away from him. He leans back and watches the fires as he seems carefree. I look back at the fire and lose my thoughts to the dancing flames. We sit quietly for a while, neither one of us talking.
It almost feels like old times when we use to sit by the fire many evenings.
Dimitri, all of a sudden, grabs me laying me back onto the floor. He's peering down at me. His eyes are so full of promise and love. Laced with red, that only reminds me of what he has become.
It makes me gasp, my hand goes up and strokes his cheek. He closes his eyes as he holds my hand in place. "I have missed your touch," he whispers.
"Let me love you," he says as he hovers only a few inches above me. "Give me time. Please be patient with me. It's just too much to process," I say as I stroke his hair and then rest my hand on his back, holding him close to me. "Ok, I can do that. After all, that's all I have is time," he smirks at me.
Dimitri's in the bathroom taking a shower as I strip off my dress, leaving me in my underwear. All of a sudden, I feel very aware that I'm going to be half-naked around Dimitri. I know he has seen me naked a few times, but I feel very vulnerable around him.
He comes out of the bathroom wearing his PJ bottoms that hang so delicious off his hips. His chest is still damp from his shower. I stand with my mouth gaping on the ground as he crosses the room to me. His eyes sweep up and down my body. "Emily, you are so beautiful," he whispers as he caresses my cheek, sending electricity through me.
I grab Dimitri throwing my arms around him. I find his lips and take him hostage.
He pulls away and smirks at me. "Emily, you are making it really hard for me to take it slow," he whispers. "Oh, so now we are taking it slow now that you are standing there in those PJ bottoms," I laugh.
"I will not take advantage of the situation. I know you are overwhelmed, and a lot of stuff has happened. I can be a man about the situation. All I want is for you to be with me. And I don't mean in that way. I want you to trust me and love me before we go any further," he says. "I can't believe my ears, you sound like the Dimitri I first met, the stubborn one," I say as I smirk at him.
"I guess you could say that. You did want the old me back, didn't you?" he asks as he tries to look as innocent as possible. "I'm not falling for it," I huff at him.
"So, the pink undies are not tempting enough?" I ask with a smile. "Oh, it's hard, believe me, but I have waited this long, why not wait for when it counts," he says as he lays on his belly looking over at me. "You are so terrible, you are teasing me, and you know it," I tell him.
He peaks up at me through his dark lashes. "I plead the fifth," he says. Now come to bed so we can get some sleep," he says softly. "Oh, is that all?" I ask as I head toward the bed. "Yes, not until I know that you are my old Emily will I give in," he says as he closes his eyes. He's so frustrating. I can't believe he's actually going to play hard to get.
Dimitri turns the lights out and crawls into bed. Wrapping his arms around me, he pulls me to him. I feel him nuzzle at my neck before he gets situated behind me. I can feel the rise and fall of his chest as his arm hugs me tight. I wiggle a little too provocatively against him, which makes him gasp. "Behave! Go to sleep," he whispers. I can't help but smile. His skin is cool against my body, which is a comfort. We had the room hot to accommodate his body's temperature so I wouldn't get too cold.
We even added a few extra blankets to make it really warm. To my surprise, it worked. I found myself seeking his cool body to keep me cool. When he turned, I would turn with him. I slept very light that night. Every move he made I made with him. I took in his scent and the shape of his body. Dimitri fell asleep pretty fast as I found it hard to take my eyes off him. After what seemed like hours of studying his every feature, I found that I finally fell asleep.
I wake to find Dimitri already awake and out of bed. I slide out of bed and walk over to him. "Did you sleep well," he asks. "Actually I did, I was surprised I actually controlled myself from ripping you apart….and your cool body temperature," I say as I look at him with a shy smile.
"Ripe me apart, you say. Hum……….now that sounds interesting. I have no doubt that you could try," he grins. "Try, what makes you think that I would not succeed," I say with a little shock in my voice. He cocks his head to the side and just grins. I have got to figure out a way to persuade him. Oh, the many thoughts that run through my head.

Love Me - Chapter Thirty Four

I get to my feet and walk out of the bathroom. I'm still shaking from the attack. It was so close I can't believe that I'm still alive and intact. I feel my head start to spin as my knees grow weak. Dimitri grabs ahold of me to steady me. My dark night has come to rescue me.
Dimitri moves in front of me and then drops to his knee. He holds my hand and then rests his head on my belly. I almost want to jump, but something deep down starts pulling at my heart. The feelings for Dimitri are resurfacing. I can't do this, I can't let my heart fall for him.
"Emily, please don't pull away from me," he says with a sadness I have not seen him show before. This is a side I'm not used to seeing. He has always been strong and confident with his emotions. "Does it not matter what I have told you? Please, Emily, I can't lose you again," he begs. Before thinking, I reach up to run my fingers through his hair to comfort him but catch myself. "I can't do this. I can't live this way," I whisper.
He stands up as I drop to my knees. He places his hands on my shoulders. I can feel that he's still sad without even looking at him. "I can protect you," he says. "No, you can't, I will never be safe as long as I'm alive. Why don't you just kill me?" I sigh. "Emily, I could never hurt you. Don't you see that I can't live without you?" Dimitri whispers.
Suddenly, without warning, he pulls me up from the floor, dragging me by the hand out of the room. "Where are we going?' I ask as I try to keep up. He doesn't answer as he unlocks a door and leads me into a beautiful bedroom.
"This is where I sleep, you will be safe here with me. I want you to be with me all the time. I'm stunned as I wrap my head around this. "Is this where you and Jen sleep?" I ask with anger laced in my voice.
I see Dimitri took it just as I thought he would. He guessed what I was thinking. "You think! No, I have......not slept with Jen like you think. Yes, she sleeps in my room but not with me," he hisses. I jump and find myself stepping back away from him.
"Do I mean that little to you! Did I not show you that I loved you?" he shouts as he shows his fangs.
"I'm............sorry," I gasp as I step back from him.
Dimitri's face softens. "Emily, look, this is a little hard to just explain all at once. It all happened so fast. I went down the day that we fought with the Nightwalkers. I thought you were dead. When I woke up, I realized they had turned me into one of them. They tried to convince me that they killed you with the rest of your family. I could not come to terms with your death and this new life that had been presented to me. I went to end my life when your sister stopped me. She revealed that you had escaped and was still being hunted. This gave me hope but also scared me. I knew they would not give up until they found you. I had to find you before they did.
My one hope became a reality when I spotted you that one night down by the beach. I had to follow you to make sure that it was, in fact, you. The purple hair and your looks have changed a little. When I was sure I had to have you with me," he says.
"So you have been looking for me all this time?" I ask. "Not at first. I had to adjust to what I am. I had to get myself under control and to deal with what happened. I will tell you the story one day but not tonight. I have not been with no other since you, I have no room for anyone else. When I came here, I was forced to choose a bond. Jen is my bond, she is linked to me by a spell that keeps her safe and for whatever I choose. I have chosen to be kind to her. She shares my room, and that is all. I feed off her when I am not able to hunt, and that is hardly at all. She talked to me to keep me company when I was lonely, but that's it," he says. I'm floored.
Dimitri pulls me into his arms, holding me tight, and I find that it's a comfort this time. "I'm sorry for all of this. I wish I could have been stronger while I was human. That we could have lived a happy life together with your family, but they won. I will not let them have you," he says."Hannah said that once they found out that I was here, they would never allow us to be together. With your bond with Jen, you will never be able to protect me like you can with her," I whisper as I inhale his scent."Let me worry about that," he says.
"Take a walk with me," he says as he grabs my hand, lacing his fingers in mine. He leads me outside with only the stars lighting our way. It's a beautiful night with a warm breeze that flows through my hair. "Let's spend some time together, so you can get comfortable around the new me and not what I use to be," he says.
"There is so much I would love to know, but I just don't know if I can love you as a Nightwalker," I tell him. I peek up at him, and he's not surprised. I was expecting a hurt look, but he's not. He's got almost a small smile playing on his lips.
"There is much I want to tell you. I think you will see everything in a different light when you know everything. Let's just take it slow," Dimitri says as he smirks at me. Get to know him better, what else is there to know other than he's a Nightwalker that drinks blood. I can't help but feel like he is hiding something from me, but what could it be?
He comes to a stop and turns to me. He runs his cold fingers along my cheek that sends chills down me. It's got me excited but weary at the same time. I lean into his hand as I close my eyes. I try to remember him like he was before he was changed. I feel my heart yearn for his touch. This is something I can't seem to wrap my head around. Am I damaged beyond love? I have no idea. I don't know if it's even possible to love him. I want to deep down, but I have no idea if I can.
"Emily," Dimitri snaps me out of my thoughts. "Come, I want to show you something," She says as he leads me around the house. When we get to the back of the house, he sits down on the ground, then motions for me to join him. I sit down beside him, he pulls me to him so that we are arm to arm. He leans in as I catch my breath. He points to the sky as he shows me the constellation of stars.
"I see it, I call out to Dimitri. He follows my hand to another constellation of stars. He leans closer to where I can feel his breath on my bare shoulder. I feel a chill run over me. Then I'm hit with a drop of rain. I blink as another hits my cheek.
Dimitri pulls me up, and we run toward the house to get out of the rain.
We bust through the door, and he's smiling at me with water dripping off him. He's wet and smiling, and it's a beautiful site to see him carefree and happy with me.
I laugh for the first time in a long time. I throw my head back and giggle like a schoolgirl."What's is so funny?" Dimitri asks me with a smirk on his face. I can't stop laughing to answer him. "Well, if I knew dragging you out in the rain would make you so happy, I would have done it sooner," he laughs. "Oh Dimitri," I giggle.
Dimitri grabs me crushing me to him. His lips kiss me fiercely as I freeze in shock. I gasp between his kisses and feel myself being pulled in. My mind is racing, as my body starts to betray me. A small moan escapes my lips.
Dimitri releases me, and I'm almost frozen. In that kiss, I felt it. His love, his world, all ready to be laid out for me. I'm hit with emotions that almost choke me. Here it is, I must decide to either accept him like this or leave him forever.

Blind Fury - Thirty Three

I'm in the bathroom finishing up when I hear the door being unlocked. I head toward the bedroom, expecting Dimitri. He told me he would be coming by later.
I come out of the bathroom, and freeze when I see this strange man. His eyes are red, and his skin is pale. He's another Nightwalker. Within a matter of seconds, he shoves me up against the wall holding my face in place. His body has me pinned to the point that I can't move. I stop breathing as his cold hand grips my chin as his cold red eyes stare me.
I knee him in the stomach just enough for him to loosen his grip on me so I can break free. I dart toward the door hoping that he left it unlocked. I turn the knob as I watch him standing there, amused at my panic. I dart toward the bathroom, knowing I have nowhere else to run.
I make it to the bathroom, and with one swift move, he grabs me pulling me toward him and down to the ground. His face is so close to mine as I see him bare his fangs. Just when I think he's going to sink his teeth into me. He pushes me further to the ground.
He's got me by the throat, and my hands pinned above my head. His cold eyes lock on me. Pushing my legs apart, he presses his body into mine. I gasp..........
"Please! Don't hurt me," I plead. "Oh my pretty little thing, you have no idea what plans I have for you. Not only are you mouth-watering, your beautiful," he says with a cold smile that sends chills all over me.
Pulling my face to the side, I can feel his breath on my neck. He runs his tongue up my neck as he runs his hand up my thigh. I try to wiggle out of his hold, but he's too strong.
"Were going to have some fun," he says as he reaches the top of my thigh. I feel the warm tears run down my cheeks as I try to brace myself for the horror about ready to happen. I close my eyes and try to imagine I'm somewhere else.
Just when I think he's about ready to take me. I hear a welcoming voice. I have never been so happy to hear his voice as I am now. I can feel the man being pried off me.
"You dare!" Dimitri shouts at the guy as he pulls him off the ground by his throat. "Release me, you fool," the man growls. "She's mine, and only mine," Dimitri hisses.
I scramble to the far corner of the bathroom as they face off with each other. "She's not yours. She's fair game. You have no bond to her," he says.
Dimitri loses it. He slams the guy right into a beam. With a loud thud, the man grunts as he makes contact. Then Dimitri grabs the guy and slams him again. I can only watch the horror unfold.
After slamming him a couple more times. Dimitri grabs the man and pulls him up to face him. "Now about that bond. I don't need a bond. She's mine! I will not tell you again," Dimitri hisses. The guy looks stunned and decides the battle is not worth fighting.
I find myself shaking as I sit on the cold floor. The man leaves, and within a minute, Dimitri pulls me into his arms. I'm trembling with fear even though I know I am safe now that Dimitri is here with me. "Are you alright? Please tell me he didn't hurt you," Dimitri asks. His cold hands stroke my back and hold my face.
"Thanks to you, I am," I say as I pull him close to me. A creature of darkness has become my salvation. I know I shouldn't let my guard down, but in the same breath, I can feel that ache in my heart as we hold each other, not saying a word.
He pulls me up off the floor, and with those eyes, his once brown lovely eyes that are traced with red stare at me. How can he still have this effect on me? "Be with me," he says as he pulls me closer.
"Please, I need you. I may be a Nightwalker, but I love you. I can't be without you. We were destined to be with each other. I can never love anyone but you. You have my heart," he says. "I.............. don't see a future that has us together in it," I reply as I feel my heartbreaking.
He releases me as his face falls. He walks over to the sink leaning on it. His back is facing me. I can see his face in the mirror. I have never seen this side of Dimitri. It's pulling at every feeling I have for him. I see tears run down his face.
I sink to the floor as I see Dimitri cry. I didn't think it was possible until now. Maybe he does still have a heart. But where would this leave us if I did choose this path to go down? How could we actually be together and be happy?
